Tour Details

This 8 day Trip Marrakech to Merzouga (Erg Chebbi) allows one to see the High Atlas mountains. See Ait Ben Haddou and Telouat Kazbah. Stop in Ouarzazate for photos adjacent to Dades Gorges, Roses Valley, and the “Atlas studio.” Camel trip and overnight camping in the Sahara desert.

After spending overnight in the center of the dunes in the Berber tents, we will once again find ourselves on our route to Fez in another direction. We will visit Rissani Markt, Erfoud, Erachidia, Midelt, Azrou. We will then keep on Meknes, Volubilis, Chefchaouen, Rabat, and Casablanca down to Marrakech.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Marrakech » Ait Ben Hadou » Ouarzazate » Boumalne Dades [325 km]

Depart from your accommodation or airport in the morning and travel to Dades Valley. Cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi N-Tichka pass (2260 m). Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, famous for movies like “Laurence of Arabia” and “Gladiator.” Enjoy scenic views and small Berber villages. Continue to Ouarzazate, known as “the gate of the Sahara desert.” Visit the Kasbah Taourirt and film studios, then head to Boumalne Dades for dinner and an overnight stay in a traditional riad or hotel.

Day 2: Dades Valley » Todgha Gorges » Merzouga Sahara Desert [269 km]

After breakfast, head to Todra Gorges, passing through Tinghir. Enjoy a walk within the narrow canyon of the Dades gorges and take pictures of the 300m high cliffs. Continue to Merzouga Sahara Desert, stopping for lunch on the way. Arrive at the Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga in the late afternoon. Take a camel trek to the heart of the desert and admire the sunset from the top of the highest sand dunes. Enjoy dinner with Berber drums music and spend the night in a desert camp under a starry sky.

Day 3: Merzouga Sahara Desert Discovery Trip [40 km]

Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the sand dunes. After breakfast, camel trek back to your riad or hotel in Merzouga. Start an off-road adventure tour around the sand dunes, visiting Khamlia village known for its Gnawa music. Enjoy panoramic views of the sand dunes and experience nomadic lifestyles. Visit deserted mines and an oasis of palm trees. Return to Merzouga and have free time to explore the streets.

Day 4: Merzouga Dunes » Rissani » Erfoud » Ziz Valley » Errachidia » Midelt [263 km]

After breakfast, leave the Sahara Desert and travel to Midelt via Rissani and Erfoud. Walk through the authentic souk and shop like locals. Continue towards Midelt, stopping to enjoy panoramic views of palm trees over the Ziz Valley. Travel along the Rich Ziz Gorges and through the Tizi N Talghamt pass to reach Midelt. Arrive in Midelt for dinner and an overnight stay in a hotel.

Day 5: Midlet » Atlas Mountains » Azrou (Cedar Forest) » Fes Imperial City [204 km]

After breakfast, travel from Midlet to Fes via small Berber villages in the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop to see and take photos with the Barbarian apes in the Cedar forest before Azrou. Continue to Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” before arriving in Fes. Drop off at your hotel or riad.

Day 6: Full day Fes Imperial City Sightseeing Tour

Explore Fes with a local guide, visiting the oldest university in Morocco, the Jewish Quarter, and the famous leather tannery. Enjoy a half-day medina walking tour and have free time in the afternoon to explore more places in the city. Overnight in a hotel or riad.

Day 7: Fez » Volubilis » Meknes » Rabat [205 km]

After breakfast, depart from Fes to Rabat via Meknes. Visit the archaeological site of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In Meknes, visit Bab El Mansour, Lahdim square, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. Continue to Rabat, the capital of Morocco, and visit the Kasbah of the Udayas, Hassan Tower, and the Mohamed V mausoleum. Overnight in a hotel or riad in the Medina.

Day 8: Rabat » Casablanca » Back to Marrakech Imperial City [323 km]

Depart from Rabat in the morning for Marrakech via Casablanca. Visit the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, the second-largest mosque in Africa. Travel back to Marrakech and spend the rest of the day at your leisure. Walk around the famous Djemaa El Fna square or explore more of Marrakech. Drop off at your hotel, riad, or the airport, concluding your 8-day trip.
