Itinerary:

Day 1: Fes » Azrou (Cedar Forest) » Midelt » Erfoud » Merzouga [467 Km]

We’ll pick you up from your hotel or Riad and start our 4-day, 3-night desert trip, driving south to Azrou via Ifrane (the “Little Switzerland” of Morocco) and the Middle Atlas mountains. Stop by the cedar forest to take photos with the Barbarian Apes, then continue through the Atlas Mountains, enjoying the landscapes of Midelt. After lunch, we’ll journey through the Ziz Valley to Erfoud, Rissani, and Merzouga. Upon arrival, we’ll be welcomed with a cup of tea and stay overnight at the hotel/Riad.

Day 2: Explore Merzouga Area & Camel Trek (Night in Desert Camp) [45 km]

After breakfast, we’ll explore the area, visiting the village of black people originally from Mali to enjoy their music and way of life. We’ll then drive to Miffis Mines to see how they work before heading behind the dunes for charming desert views and tea with local Bedouins. After returning to the hotel for a rest, your local guides will teach you camel-related safety tips before you begin exploring the Erg-Chebbi sand-sea. Overnight in a Berber tent.

Day 3: Merzouga » Ziz Valley » Todra Gorges & Dades Valley [255 km]

Wake up early to watch the best sunrise of your life, casting different shadows and colors over the highest sand dunes in Morocco. After breakfast at our desert hotel, we’ll continue to Tinghir and the stunning Todra Gorge, the highest and narrowest gorges in Morocco. The gorge is perfect for hiking, relaxing by the river, or sampling local Berber delicacies. After lunch in the gorge, we’ll drive through the Dades Valley and spend the night in a hotel on top of the mountain.

Day 4: Dades Valley » Ziz Valley » Midelt » Fes [472 Km]

After a delicious local breakfast, we’ll pack up and start our journey back to Fes. From Todgha Gorge, we’ll pass through palm groves and follow the Ziz Valley, stopping at a panoramic spot for tea and to admire the scenery. As we travel northwards to Midelt, you may see nomadic settlements with goat-hair tents. After lunch, we’ll continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains and forests, stopping to feed the Barbary Monkeys in the cedar trees and for coffee in the alpine town of Ifrane. By late afternoon, we’ll reach Fes and say our goodbyes.
