Our 3 days tour from Fes to the Merzouga desert starts from your hotel or riad in Fes, driving across the Middle Atlas and cedar forest. Along the way, we pass through Ifrane, a famous ski resort, and Midelt, known for its minerals and apples. We continue via the Ziz Valley to reach Erfoud, famous for fossil products, and then to Rissani. Upon arrival in the Erg Chebbi desert, we meet our desert guide and prepare for a camel ride across the Merzouga sand dunes. We end the first day of our tour by sleeping in a Sahara desert camp.
On the second day, it’s worth waking up early to experience the beauty of a desert sunrise and the amazing silence of the Sahara. After returning to the camp for breakfast and a hot shower, you’ll ride your camel back to the departure point. We’ll then pick you up and start exploring the Merzouga desert, visiting interesting sites around the Erg Chebbi dunes, such as the seasonal Lake of Merzouga (Lake Sirji), Khamlia village for GNAWA music, and Mefes mines. We’ll end the day by visiting nomad families and spending the night at a local hotel or riad in the Merzouga desert.
Today, we say goodbye to the desert and head back to Fes. We’ll pass through the Rissani Market, the biggest souk in the area, and Erfoud, known for carving marble stones and fossils. Enjoy the beautiful Ziz Valley and palm groves scenery up to Midelt, a small city known for its apple production. We’ll take a short break for lunch in Midelt or a nearby town called Zaida. Continuing our journey, we’ll pass through the Azrou cedar forest before arriving in Fes around 6 p.m., where we’ll drop you off at your accommodation, concluding our 3-day tour from Fes to the Merzouga desert.
