We will pick you up from your riad/hotel to start your 3 days Fes to Marrakech Desert Tour. Drive south to Ifrane and Azrou through the Middle Atlas mountains. Stop at the cedar forests to see the Barbarian Apes in their natural habitat.
Travel through the Tizi Ntalghamt pass to Midelt and along the Ziz Gorges carved through volcanic rock. Enjoy views of the Middle-Atlas plateau and the scenery changing to reveal hints of the desert as you approach Errachidia. After lunch, continue through the Ziz Valley to Erfoud, Rissani, and Merzouga. After a glass of mint tea, leave your luggage in a safe room and take a camel ride to a Berber camp in the middle of the Erg Chebbi Sad Dunes, the highest in North Africa.
The camel trek takes about 1h 30 min to reach the camp, where you’ll set up Berber tents for the night. The tents are well equipped with mattresses, blankets, and cushions. After dinner, gather around the fire and enjoy the sound of traditional Berber drums under the stars. That’s the end of the first day of our Fes to Marrakech Desert Tour.
See an amazing sunrise over the sea of dunes. After a delicious breakfast and a hot shower in the camp, return to Merzouga by camels or 4WD as an option. Leave the Sahara desert towards Tinghir, “the city of the mountain” in Tamazight, a beautiful Berber village with contrasting palm trees and houses.
The route shows its contrasts as you approach the gorges of Todra, formed by rock walls over 200m high. After visiting the gorges, go to the Dades Valley, a Berber village famous for its high gorges and views over the Atlas. Spend the second night of the Fes to Marrakech desert tour in a charming riad.
On the last day of our 3-day Fes to Marrakech Desert Tour, cross the Valley of the Dades and the Valley of the Roses until arriving at Ouarzazate, where you’ll visit the Kasbah of Taourirt.
After about 25 km, see the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for being the setting of cinematic blockbusters like “Lawrence of Arabia,” “The Sheltering Sky,” and “Babel.” Follow the road through the Tizi N-Tichka pass and the beautiful landscapes of the High Atlas mountains, leading to the “Red City,” Marrakech, where you’ll say goodbye to your guide.
