Starting at our location, our Merzouga 4×4 excursion takes you on an exciting drive across desert dunes speckled with black volcanic rocks. Along the well-known Paris Dakar Rally route, you will pass through a number of settlements and the seasonal Merzouga lake.
We’ll next make a stop in Khamlia hamlet, where you may socialize with the residents, take in some optional Gnawa music, and maybe even have some mint tea. Please be aware that it is necessary to tip the Gnawa musicians or buy a CD (around 10€) in order to support them. You may bypass here and go straight to the Lead Mines in Mefes if you’d like.
On the other side of the Erg Chebbi dunes lies a little, almost deserted village called Mefes, which is well-known for its mineral mines that date back to the French colonial era and include lead, zinc, and iron.
We’ll continue our 4WD adventure later to see nomadic people living on the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes in traditional Berber-style tents. The Gardens in Hassi Labied hamlet are the last destination on our Merzouga 4×4 excursion.

Luxury tents have ensuite bathrooms, showers, and towels. A cozy tent offers communal facilities and hot showers outside. You must bring your own towel and shower supplies.
Each luxury tent comes with its own private bathroom, complete with a shower, soap, shampoo, and towels. You are required to bring your own towel and shower accessories due to the communal hot showers outside the tent at Comfortable Tent.
Be sure to pack warm clothing for the winter, since temperatures drop significantly and nights can get chilly.
