We will meet you at your accommodation in Casablanca or at the airport and drive to Chefchaouen. On this 7-day tour of Morocco, we will make short stops at some monuments in Rabat, including the Hassan Tower, before continuing to the blue city of Chefchaouen. Overnight in an authentic riad in the Medina.
You will have a free day to walk around the blue-painted alleys and explore the highlights of Chefchaouen, including the Stalk, Akshour Falls, the Kasbah Ethnographic Museum, Utah Lhmam Square, and Al-Swaiga District. Overnight in a traditional Riad.
After breakfast, travel to Fes via Ouazzan and the Roman site of Volubilis. Enjoy a guided tour of the well-preserved Roman ruins, dating back to 225 BC. Continue to Meknes, the Ismaili capital of Morocco, to see Bab Mansour, the granary, Sahrij Souani, and the Mulay Ismail Mausoleum. Finally, arrive in Fes for an overnight stay at a fancy riad in the medina.
After breakfast, explore Fes, the “Spiritual City of Morocco.” Visit the Al Karaouine Mosque and University, Madrasa Bouanania, Tanneries, and Najjarine fountain. After lunch, see the Royal Palace gate, walk through the Jewish quarter “the Mellah,” and visit the pottery cooperative. Later, enjoy a panoramic view of the Medina from a fortress. Overnight at the same riad.
After breakfast, travel south to the Merzouga desert via Midelt and Errachidia. Stop in Ifrane, known as “the Switzerland of Morocco,” and the famous cedar forest to see the Barbarian apes. Continue through the Ziz Valley, stopping for panoramic views, and drive through Berber villages to Erfoud and Rissani. Overnight in Merzouga.
After breakfast and a hot shower in the desert camp, your camel guide will wake you up early to watch the sunrise. Camel trek back to your departure point, appreciating the beauty of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Meet your driver and leave for Tinghir and Todra gorges. Hike along the valley and drive through the Dades Valley to see the majestic sand castles and “monkey toes” rock formations. Overnight in a riad or hotel in the gorge.
After breakfast, drive through the Dades Valley towards Kalaat Mgouna and Ouarzazate. Stop at Kalaat Mgouna, “the rose city,” to purchase rosewater. Continue to Ouarzazate and have lunch at the famous Ait Ben Haddou kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Drive through the Tizi ‘n’ Tichka pass over the High Atlas Mountains, stopping to explore the process of making argan oil at women’s cooperatives. Arrive at your accommodation in Marrakech, where the tour ends.
