Continue to the Erg Chebbi sand dunes, deeper into the desert. Dinner and overnight in a hotel with a pool at the dune line of Erg Chebbi.
Today, we’ll explore the desert region and the marvel that is the Erg Chebbi desert dunes. We’ll make a circuit of the desert dunes, where you’ll have the opportunity to see the nomads’ way of life and the amazing changing contrasts of the desert. Visit the “black village” of Khamlia to see the Gnawa musicians and enjoy a traditional Berber pizza for lunch in the ancient capital of Rissani. In the afternoon, we’ll ride camels to see the sunset over the dunes and spend the night in the desert camp. We’ll have a traditional tagine dinner, drink delicious mint tea, and listen to traditional Berber music while watching the stars and the rising moon in the amazing Sahara Desert.
Wake up early to watch the best sunrise of your life, casting different shadows and colors over the sea of sand dunes, the highest in Morocco, before returning to our desert hotel. After breakfast, we’ll continue to Tinghir and the stunning Todra Gorge, the highest and narrowest gorges in Morocco. The gorge is a great spot for hiking and relaxing on the edge of the river or sampling some local Berber delicacies. After lunch in the heart of the gorge, we’ll drive through the Dades Valley, where we’ll end our day spending the night in a nice hotel located on top of the mountain.
After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll begin our journey along the road of 1,000 Kasbahs, with enormous kasbahs on both sides of the road. Some of these old fortified houses are restored, but many are in ruins. We’ll pass through the Dades Valley and go up to the mountainous area through an off-road trail, where many Berber villages and a few nomads live in caves. Here, we’ll have the chance to visit one of these families and take a look at their daily life and main activity of looking after herds of goats and sheep. We’ll be impressed by the landscapes of the colorful rose valley before reaching the Skoura palm grove. Forty-five kilometers further, we’ll reach Ouarzazate for dinner and overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast, we’ll visit Taourirt Kasbah before departing to Ait Benhaddou to visit the World Heritage Site. We’ll continue with a visit to the traditional High Atlas Berber village of Telouet and the Kasbah el Glaoui. We’ll have lunch in a local restaurant in Telouet before descending the Tizi-n-Tichka to Marrakech, where our 5 days desert tour from Fes to Marrakech via Merzouga Sahara ends.
